Do it for the after selfie!

Hey guys,

I hope that everyone is enjoying their week, for me I feel it is going by so slowly – but I think that is because I am just back from a great long weekend in Scotland! Anyways, I have decided that I want to do monthly posts to talk about my fitness, weight-loss and all things healthy that I have enjoyed during the month. This will also be an incentive for me to try something new and to stay on the right track knowing I am writing about my journey for everyone to read haha!

Let me give you a bit of background to my fitness/ weight loss journey so far:
Since as far back as I can remember, I have always hated how I looked. I am a comfort eater, and find it hard to say no to food even when I am full. I am just below 5’2″ and at my heaviest I was nearly 10 stone. I know for most 10 stone is not exactly heavy – but for my height and build, I was definitely over weight. Over the last 4-5 years or so I have tried to get on track and at some points I did manage to loose a good bit of weight and eat healthier, but I have in the last year or so reverted straight back to my unhealthy ways and I can now safely say that about half of my wardrobe is very tight on me!!

Over the past year there has been a lot of things that have changed including jobs, relationships and other personal things that I can’t exactly mention on the internet!- But everything took it’s toll on me, so I started to comfort eat and about a month or two ago I got to the stage where I could not even look at myself in the mirror. Whenever I gained weight, I stopped going out as much as I hated any photo that was taken of me, I was constantly fearing that people were judging me and I stopped even wanting to see my friends because I felt like I wasn’t me. I knew I had to change something because my self esteem was definitely suffering and I was almost living in a shell.

In June, I entered a competition on Facebook for 2 months unlimited classes at Lorna Flood Fitness based in Dunshaughlin, Co.Meath. I had gone to Lorna’s classes before I moved to England (another major factor in my weight gain), and I really enjoyed them so I was over the moon when I found out that I won!

After my first month at LF Fitness,  I can definitely notice a difference in my strength as well as muscle gain and tone. Lorna has a wide range of classes to pick from, both morning and evenings. I tend to prefer the morning classes at 6am as I then feel wide awake for the day, and I get my workout done so that after work I can go home and relax. The evening classes suit well on the days when I would prefer to have a lie in and then go to a class straight from work. I try to do at least 4-5 classes a week – but this can vary depending on the week!

Classes I have done so far: TRX combo & TRX abs, Circuit training, weights, bootcamp, 20/20/20. I am looking forward to seeing the changes in my body at the end of August!

Visit Lorna’s Facebook Page to see her current offers and timetable!

Healthy Food
Trying to stay on track food wise is probably one of the toughest challenges anyone can face. I am a huge fan of chocolate and could easily finish a share galaxy bar by myself in 20 mins. I have tried to stop my bad habits by ensuring that the meals I have during the day are sustainable and will keep me full until the next meal. Normally what I try to eat in a day is:

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs on homemade brown bread or Porridge with sunflower seeds, dried banana and honey.
Lunch: Salad with roast chicken or tuna or ham
Dinner: Stir-fry or meat with vegetables or homemade dinner (I try to stay away from carbs as much as possible)
Snacks: fruit or nuts or protein balls.

I haven’t been able to cut out all snacks completely, and I wouldn’t want to as I enjoy chocolate way too much, but I am definitely going to try stick to being clean 5 out of 7 days so that I can still look forward to a good cheat/treat day during the week!

Here are some of my favourite snacks/meals that I show on snapchat: @samanthaanne93

Did I mention that I love Pennys?

Pennys. I honestly don’t know what I would do without Pennys, and they have seriously stepped up their game recently. Last week with the press launch for their A/W16 collection, I must have screenshotted so many goergrous pieces on verious peoples snapchats, that I will be hoping to get my hands on when they land is shops!

It is not only their clothing and footwear sections that I drool over, but their homeware and beauty section has began to excite me just as much! While I was in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre yesterday, I popped into Penny’s and picked up two things.

The two items that stood out were this Rose blush coloured bomber Jacket and gold sandals. (see pictures below with prices).

The bomber stood out as soon as I seen it as I love the colour pink in all shades. They do have bombers in at the moment in black and kahki colours also, but I thought that the blush colour would be a bit different. I tried it on and I was a bit hesitant but I bought it anyways as I feel that if you don’t get something when you see it in Pennys, it will more than likely be gone when you go back to look for it!

The gold sandals have been on my mind for weeks. I wanted them each time I seen them, but I wasn’t too sure if they would look a bit too out there or tacky on. When I went in yesterday and seen that they still had my size, I decided that I might as well get them and try them on with a few things and I love them now. In fact, I liked them so much that I wore them out last night 🙂

Have a lovely week 🙂

Lady in Red…or Coral

Happy Sunday!

Last night I went out for my good friend Shannon’s 21st to a nightclub in Dublin called Xicos. It was brilliant, and we even got to dance on tables – well on top of couches in the booths haha.
I finally got to wear my new favourite dress from Zara that I bought a few weeks ago.

It is coral in colour with lace detail on the top and a skater style bottom half. It has a low front and open back, with material inserted in the top front half so that no bra is needed. I absolutely love it and it was so comfortable to wear! I wore gold accessories along with gold heels from River Island that are old stock.

My New Room!

A few months ago I moved rooms in my house, so I got the chance to decide exactly how I wanted my new room to look, colour scheme furniture etc. I didn’t expect it to cost as much as it did, but sure it was worth it in the end.

I am now in the attic and the difference the redecorating made is incredible. As I mentioned in my previous post about my inspiration for the room (see here), I wanted to keep it simple, feminine with plain colours. I wanted the colour scheme to be grey and white, with the occasional copper pieces. I have not yet found everything I wanted but I am thrilled with how it has turned out, so I have decided to share a little before and after!

This was a complete DIY job so I had both the help of my mam and her partner Tony. To be honest they did the majority of the decorating as I am a little useless. I did help with the sanding down and with some of the painting – but a massive thanks to mam and Tony for their help!

I got my wallpaper and wall paint from Woodies, along with other bits and bobs such as ceiling paint, gloss and paintbrushes. Furniture wise my Bed is from Marks and Spencer, and the majority of my other furniture including my vanity desk, mirrors, lights and large rug are from Ikea.

I am still on the hunt for a bedside lamp and some copper accessories but I am sure that I will find some over the next few weeks!

Hope you like my room just as much as I do,

Primark Haul – Spring 2016

For the past two weeks I have been feeling like my wardrobe needed a bit of a revamp.  I have been living in dark colours and felt I needed to pick up a few pieces that will do me for the transition into spring –  I say that as I am currently sitting in a big jumper and it’s raining outside haha but I know the sunny weather will be soon on its way! – (or at least I hope).

As I was on a tight budget, I decided that I would just head to Pennys in Blanchardstown Shopping Centre to pick up one or two things – but lets just say I ended up with a bit more than one or two!! Here are some of the clothing and footwear pieces that I picked up.
So firstly I picked up some shoes. I seen the gorgeous red/orange heels and thought firstly they would be amazing on my mam as she loves anything coral, but when she said she didn’t need them I immediately tried them on for me haha. I then seen that they were €22 and thought it would be silly of me not to get them. They are suede, so I will wait for the sun before I wear these.
Next I seen these in the corner of my eye and knew I had to have them. They had them in white also, but I prefered this colour. They were €7 – complete bargain.
I needed flats for work and also for casual wear, so I went for these brown ballerina lace ups that were €11 –  I immediately thought these would look lovely with jeans and my white blazer.
Next up trousers, I have a few pairs of nice trousers for work but they just include black and grey. So these were exactly what I was looking for. They are quite roomy and come with a brown belt. They look really smart for work and were only €14,
Tops are something I feel you can never have enough of. I wanted to get away from the usual black tops I wear so I picked up the following four. The first three will be for more workwear and occasion wear whereas the fourth is a bit more casual – but has the gorgeous statement neckline that makes it a bit more fancy! Prices included in captions.
Hope you enjoyed this post! I will be starting to upload a lot more workwear looks on my instagram and snapchat, so feel free to follow me on both. 🙂 x
