Eating out in Dublin city

Hey Girls!

I actually wrote this blog post last month but completely forgot to post it, but as it is about Dublin City, I feel that it will always be relevant!
Last month, I took a day off work during the week as my mam and younger sister had the day off and we wanted to take advantage of one of the last summery days we would have and headed into Dublin. I love Dublin City, and really don’t get to visit as much as I would like to so I was quite excited to go in for the day.
We started off our day with some shopping on O’Connell street and then walked up to Grand Canal to a little restaurant called Herbstreet – the food was divine and it has a great view too. The food is really reasonably priced and Delicious, We then took a few pictures near the Bord Gais and walked off our food on the way to Grafton street. I love Grafton street – it is always so lively and I love the busking on the streets! We again did a spot of shopping – couldn’t help ourselves – and then went for cocktails in Cafe en Seine. 
For anyone who has not been to Cafe en Seine, I would definitely recommend it, the atmosphere there is great and the interiors are amazing. I have included some pictures below! After our cocktails we popped into L’audree – I have an obsession with macaroons – and then headed to Salamanca, which mam highly recommended. I had never tried a tapas bar before, but I am obsessed already. I ordered from the early board menu, which was about €17for three tapas dishe. I chose chicken paella, potato skins with caramalised onions and bacon, and then also the chicken with creamy white wine sauce. Each dish was scrumptious and I already cannot wait to go back and eat their again!

It was a great day out and would highly recommend all of the above places we visitied for food and drinks!

Cocoa Brown Review: Real life Golden Goddess

Happy Tuesday Girls,
I hope you are all having a good start to the week! Today I wanted to write about the new love of my life – Cocoa Brown Golden Goddess oil. I do not know why I have only bought this in the last month but it has honestly transformed my tanning routine for the best.
When tanning, I usually use one of two tanning brands which are Bbold Tan and Cocoa Brown. I trust both brands and have only ever had good experiences with them. On top of my tan application I would normally use some of my Mary Loumanizer from the Balm for highlight along my collar bones.

When I was in Galway during the summer for the races my friend Terrina had the golden goddess oil, so that is when I tried it for the first time and instantly fell in love with the glow that it gives. It comes out so well on camera, can be used on cheekbones for highlight effect and it looks great when applied down the front of your shins, giving them a holiday glow.

I picked up my first bottle from Pennys! Safe to say it will be a staple for nights out from now on, and I cannot wait to try the new Ice Goddess oil that comes out next month!

Samantha’ s 6 steps for getting over an ex

So this is bit of a different blog post for me, but I think it’s one that every girl or boy will need at some point – I know I certainly did! The majority of people, at some point in their lives will experience some form of heartache. It’s inevitable that we will, we are emotional human beings that fall in love with our hearts at times when we should be thinking with our minds – or vice versa. 
When my ex- boyfriend and I broke up, it was the first proper relationship I had so I found it hard to deal with it at first, but eventually feelings fade and you begin to see exactly why breaking up was a good idea and for the best. I am no expert in the relationship/breakup scene, but hopefully someone going through a break up at the moment will find my advice helpful – or maybe I can just read it in a few years if I experience more heartache haha

Don't Look Back You're Not Going That Way:
  1. Cut all ties
    Do not text your ex for the chats, do not like their Instagram posts or Facebook pictures. At the start I think it is just best to delete them from all social media. It may seem harsh, but what is also tough is having to see their face and what they’re doing even though you’re not involved in their lives anymore. You don’t want to find yourself stalking their profiles because that won’t change anything!
  2. Mourn
    Yes I did say mourn. You technically are experiencing a loss, you need to take time out to cry, watch sad movies, eat your body weight in chocolate and feel like you are going to live alone with 10 dogs for the rest of your life. It is an essential stage in any breakup and I highly recommend it. Let me know if you are in need of any movie recommendations, I will sort you out!
  3. Depend on Friends
    Friends are so important in a breakup. They will make you see sense even when you don’t think there is any sense in the world at that moment. They are also excellent company when you are in mourning. Some of them may have also had breakups and can give you advice. Plus it is by law their role as a friend to tell you how you can do better, or to tell you that you made the right choice – and these are vital sentences you need to hear after breaking up!
  4. Make a change
    No I am not saying that there is something wrong with you and you need to change, but I always feel that if I go through something that has me stressed or upset I need to start fresh. This could be in the form of going out and buying a new outfit, or shopping online if you are still at stage 2, or change your room around, clean out your wardrobe! Anything will help. Personally, I like to change my hair, I get bored anyway with my hair but I loved cutting my hair or changing the colour to ‘feel like a new woman’ haha – it worked!
  5. Have fun – make plans
    Is there anything you couldn’t do when you were in a relationship? Well now is the perfect chance to do it! If they didn’t like to travel, this is your time to. If they didn’t want to go out every weekend – now is your chance. Make sure you keep busy, make plans with friends, family and do what you want. When your single you don’t have to think about your boyfriend/girlfriend, you get to be selfish and think about yourself – so use this as a time to focus on yourself and do what you want to.
  6. Date
    This is the probably the scariest step, but exciting at the same time. I think it is different for everyone, some want to go on the dating scene pretty soon after they experience a breakup whilst others don’t even want to think about it for months. When you are ready, you’ll know and what I will say is there is no harm in trying. Whether you meet someone through friends, on a night out, at work, on tinder or even someone you have known quite some time – it is important to get back out there. You don’t need to date with the intention of falling in love, just enjoy it and meet new people – embrace the single life!    
Always remember, things happen for a reason. At the start it is hard, especially if there are still feelings involved, but sadly at times even if two people have feelings for each other it just can’t work. What you need to do is accept that, and know that when the time is right you will meet someone else that is right for you.
P.s. Do not get back together, there was a reason you broke up in the first place.

Rose Gold Heaven at Primark

 

 

Happy Monday gals!

I hope that you have all made it through Monday with a smile on your faces, but if not don’t worry only 4 more nights until the weekend! haha but lets not wish our lives away – rather,  let’s talk about Primark Homeware instead.

This weekend, I went on a little shopping spree (payday weekend – did I really have a choice?). I felt I needed to get a few A/W winter pieces for when the weather gets that bit colder – so I popped into Pennys/Primark – I am not too sure what to be calling it these days haha. Whilst I was in the clothing department, I knew I couldn’t leave without seeing if there was anything that caught my eye in the homeware department. Once again I wanted everything – so I am happy that I have a specific colour scheme that I try keep to in my room (see here), so I was looking for items that were either rose gold, metalic, white or grey – and Luckily Primark had exactly what I was looking for!!

Do it for the after selfie!

Hey guys,

I hope that everyone is enjoying their week, for me I feel it is going by so slowly – but I think that is because I am just back from a great long weekend in Scotland! Anyways, I have decided that I want to do monthly posts to talk about my fitness, weight-loss and all things healthy that I have enjoyed during the month. This will also be an incentive for me to try something new and to stay on the right track knowing I am writing about my journey for everyone to read haha!



Let me give you a bit of background to my fitness/ weight loss journey so far:
Since as far back as I can remember, I have always hated how I looked. I am a comfort eater, and find it hard to say no to food even when I am full. I am just below 5’2″ and at my heaviest I was nearly 10 stone. I know for most 10 stone is not exactly heavy – but for my height and build, I was definitely over weight. Over the last 4-5 years or so I have tried to get on track and at some points I did manage to loose a good bit of weight and eat healthier, but I have in the last year or so reverted straight back to my unhealthy ways and I can now safely say that about half of my wardrobe is very tight on me!!

Over the past year there has been a lot of things that have changed including jobs, relationships and other personal things that I can’t exactly mention on the internet!- But everything took it’s toll on me, so I started to comfort eat and about a month or two ago I got to the stage where I could not even look at myself in the mirror. Whenever I gained weight, I stopped going out as much as I hated any photo that was taken of me, I was constantly fearing that people were judging me and I stopped even wanting to see my friends because I felt like I wasn’t me. I knew I had to change something because my self esteem was definitely suffering and I was almost living in a shell.

 



Fitness./workouts:
In June, I entered a competition on Facebook for 2 months unlimited classes at Lorna Flood Fitness based in Dunshaughlin, Co.Meath. I had gone to Lorna’s classes before I moved to England (another major factor in my weight gain), and I really enjoyed them so I was over the moon when I found out that I won!

After my first month at LF Fitness,  I can definitely notice a difference in my strength as well as muscle gain and tone. Lorna has a wide range of classes to pick from, both morning and evenings. I tend to prefer the morning classes at 6am as I then feel wide awake for the day, and I get my workout done so that after work I can go home and relax. The evening classes suit well on the days when I would prefer to have a lie in and then go to a class straight from work. I try to do at least 4-5 classes a week – but this can vary depending on the week!

Classes I have done so far: TRX combo & TRX abs, Circuit training, weights, bootcamp, 20/20/20. I am looking forward to seeing the changes in my body at the end of August!

Healthy Food 
Trying to stay on track food wise is probably one of the toughest challenges anyone can face. I am a huge fan of chocolate and could easily finish a share galaxy bar by myself in 20 mins. I have tried to stop my bad habits by ensuring that the meals I have during the day are sustainable and will keep me full until the next meal. Normally what I try to eat in a day is:

Breakfast: 2 poached eggs on homemade brown bread or Porridge with sunflower seeds, dried banana and honey.
Lunch: Salad with roast chicken or tuna or ham
Dinner: Stir-fry or meat with vegetables or homemade dinner (I try to stay away from carbs as much as possible)
Snacks: fruit or nuts or protein balls.

I haven’t been able to cut out all snacks completely, and I wouldn’t want to as I enjoy chocolate way too much, but I am definitely going to try stick to being clean 5 out of 7 days so that I can still look forward to a good cheat/treat day during the week!
